The ropes were there for a reason … and that reason was to keep children from touching this artist’s $15,000 Zootopia statue that was on display at a LEGO Expo in Ningbo, China.
Chinese artist Zhao had spent three days and nights carefully piecing together a massive Lego sculpture of Nick, the fox from Zootopia, for Sunday’s Lego Expo in Ningbo, China.
It was his masterpiece. It took a lot of time, a lot of work, and an incredible amount of artistic vision.
Then, just one hour after the exhibition opened in a shopping mall, a little boy climbed under the ropes … and accidentally smashed it to pieces.
Zhao, who was understandably heartbroken, said that the child’s parents were extremely apologetic for the mishap, and he declined compensation – as the kid clearly didn’t mean to break the artwork.
No news yet on whether or not Zhao plans to rebuild his work.
